Stampin' Up! Whale Done - Big Deal Card

Image
This is a pretty different style for me, but I was thinking: I don't use my white ink enough! Here, I took a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and used sponge daubers to add some extra Night of Navy and Whisper White ink. I stamped an underwater scene in the white ink and drew an outline around the seaweed with a white pen. The white ink is a little different to the other inks - it's a bit stickier than the colours, so I wipe-off my stamps with a baby wipe instead using the other stamp cleaners. When using the daubers, you don't need a lot of white ink so make sure to have some scrap paper underneath and start sponging on the scrap first. I also stamped some bubble dots in Night of Navy ink - I think the contrast gives a really nice effect. I tore a piece of vellum and gold heat-embossed the sentiment before wrapping it around the Night of Navy Layer. I love the look of heat embossing on vellum, and having the vellum layered on my underwater scene allows you

Stampin' Up! Whale Done - Watercolour Card

Here is another card that I made from the Whale of a Time suite! This one looks complicated but actually watercolouring like this is quite easy! It's all about the layering... I take my ink pads and smoosh them into an acrylic block (you could also use a drop of ink from a re-inker), fill my water painter with water and lay down a layer of water onto the shimmery white cardstock, drip a bit of water into the ink and mix around with the painter. Then I just dot some ink randomly over the wet area on the cardstock - just move the colour around until you get the look you want. You could wait for it to dry, but I use my heat gun to dry it on the low setting - it actually creates a different kind of look, but I like it! Repeat the layering of watercolour so you have 3 layers, but make sure it's messy...this is not some neat watercolouring! There can be quite a bit of warping on the cardstock, but I usually lightly spray the back with water and put some flat weight on top and l

Stampin' Up! Whale Done - Blends Card

Image
I have started to play around with my Blends (alcohol markers) and discovered a new technique! Well, maybe someone has done this before, but it's new to me 😄 I knew that isopropyl alcohol affects alcohol ink so I was playing around with what it could do with the markers - so, to get this background effect, I took some vellum and randomly coloured the whole piece with alcohol markers - this was night of navy light and dark, and pretty peacock light and dark - I basically coloured randomly in blobs so it looked a bit like camouflage print when done. Then I used the stampin' spritzer filled with isopropyl alcohol (I used 100%, but rubbing alcohol will do - we have so much of the stuff in the house due to this covid-19 business!) and sprayed at a distance for the fine mist, then took out the top and just tapped the tube to get bigger droplets to fall off it as well. I have a few more cards using this technique that you will be able to see in the coming weeks becau

Stampin' Up! Whale Done - Love Card

Let me introduce you to the Whale of a Time Suite 😮 isn't it adorable?! I've tried to use elements of each of the items in the suite - firstly, check out this loveable Whale Builder Punch!! I'm not usually a fan of the "builder" type punches but this one was irresistible and I definitely don't regret getting it 😍 One of my favourite items from this suite is actually the Seabed 3D embossing folder - the strip in the middle has been embossed with this folder and then I have sponged it with Bermuda Bay, and Seaside Spray inks to make the images stand out, but really, this embossing folder looks lovely without the extra colour added. The sequin pack includes 3 different colour blues, and the beautiful shells. I have carefully glued these with liquid glue - I'm definitely a perfectionist and needed to place them the way I liked 😂 The sentiment and heart were stamped in the new in-colour Magenta Madness, and a bit of clear embossing over the to
